We&#8217;re always on the lookout for new members and everyone is welcome to come along and give morris dancing a try. We&#8217;re a friendly and relaxed group, and morris dancing is a great opportunity to get active and socialise with wonderful, like-minded people. During the winter months we meet-up to practice before retiring to a local pub for a chat and a pint. The first time I performed the Morris in Harthill was in 1974 with the (now defunct) Escafeld Morris Men from Sheffield. In that year the recently-revived village carnival was held on the cricket field and Escafeld were invited to give a display. My wife and I had moved to Harthill a couple of years earlier, were keen to get involved in the village community, and as such I helped to form the Carnival Society. - [About Us](https://harthillmorris.org.uk/about-us/): A (very) brief history of Harthill Morris In 1975 a group of young men in the village of Harthill, the most southerly village in Yorkshire situated in the metropolitan borough of Rotherham, came together to form part of the entertainment for a village event. The group learned the basics of morris dancing and, following a positive reception to their performance, went on to officially form Harthill Morris in 1976. The side went from strength to strength and were proud to be accepted for membership into The Morris Ring, the founding National Association of Morris and Sword Dance Clubs, in 1981. [&hellip;]
